| BRIDGEPORT — There was no bedlam. There were no
crazed fans. And there were no crowds straining to get a glimpse of two of
Hollywood's biggest stars, John Travolta and Robin Williams.
The two actors, somehow, managed to sneak into the Ballpark at Harbor Yard Friday afternoon to film a scene in their upcoming movie, "Old Dogs." Antonio Bonilla, a location manager for Walt Disney Pictures, said Bridgeport was "just one of many locations" they would be filming in and around Connecticut. "We have 50 more days of filming left. We shot in New York City for the first week, then we went to Stamford, and Redding earlier this week," Bonilla said. He said the filming in Bridgeport would be taking place in one of the press boxes at the ballpark. "They're doing a green-screen shot, they're going to green screen a game in while they have a scene about I don't know what," Bonilla said. He said the crew had been there since 2 p.m. Friday and would be filming until 2 a.m. today. Williams and Travolta, who play business partners who unexpectedly have to care for 7-year-old twins, arrived at the stadium around 3 p.m. Later in the day, one man tried to zip past a ballpark security guard, but he was stopped and questioned about where he was heading. "I'm going up to the set, I'm John Travolta's assistant. I just need to speak with Walt, the director." The man was apparently referring to Walt Becker, who is the director of "Old Dogs," as well as the 2007 film, "Wild Hogs," which also starred Travolta. Earlier this week, Gov. M. Jodi Rell got the chance to meet Travolta in Redding. The actor looked on Thursday morning as Rell signed into law a set of incentives to help encourage film production companies to shoot and produce their movies in Connecticut. |
